Canada Conducts the First Express Entry Draw of 2024: Canada Invites 1510 New Candidates

The New Year starts with a bang! IRCC conducts the First Express Entry Draw of 2024 on the 10th of January, paving a path for 1510 new candidates to apply for a PR. As per the 2024-2026 plans, the federal government aims to invite 485,000 overseas workers in 2024, of which 110,000 candidates shall get their PR through Express Entry Programs.
This Express Entry draw fixes its minimum CRS score to 546. This general draw is attributed to the three Express Entry Programs: Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Workers Program, and Canadian Experience Class. This is a general draw and does not target any specific skilled occupation.

These score-based draws have contributed to the Canadian economy exponentially. In 2023, IRCC sent 102,262 ITA’s for permanent residency. Apart from the three Express Entry Programs, there are six category-specific draws: French Language Proficiency (to strengthen the Francophone community), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Healthcare Industry, Transport, Trades, and Agriculture, and Agri-Food industry. These draws were introduced in June 2023 to create a strong base for these specific industries.
