The Very First PNP Draw of 2024: The Latest British Columbia-PNP Revelations

Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada has issued 377 invitations in the latest British Columbia-PNP Draw. This economic immigration program strategically invites skilled professionals to eradicate labor shortages.
The opening of 2024 is bright for foreign nationals who plan to acquire a PR in Canada. On the 10th of January, BC invited 377 new candidates: 110 in the general category, 113 in the childcare industry, 74 in the construction industry, and 75 in the healthcare industry. The veterinary industry, however, anticipates seeing substantial growth in the coming times.

What is BC-PNP Draw?
British Columbia Skills Immigration is broadly divided into six categories:
- The Skilled Worker Category: inviting skilled professionals backed by years of practice
- The Healthcare Professional Category: for the 11 healthcare occupations
- International Graduates: those who have completed their graduation from a Canadian university and have bagged a job from a British Columbian employer
- International Post Graduate Category: comprises candidates with a Masters or a PhD from a BC academy.
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category: for entry-level or semi-skilled level jobs in various departments such as hospitality, tourism, etc.
The first BC Draw 2024 announces the minimum CRS of 120 for the General Category. The highest CRS for the skilled worker category is 75, attributed to construction occupations, and the remaining three occupations in focus: childcare, healthcare, and veterinary professions, witness a CRS score of 60.
The Last BC-PNP Draws
IRCC conducted the last BC-PNP Draw for 2023 on the 19th of December, and 230 ITAs were issued. In 2024, the number of invitees will see a significant increase.
The last draw invited 107 candidates in 35 tech-occupations, 62 invitations were sent to targeted profiles, the construction category invited 32 candidates and finally the healthcare occupations invited 29 new skilled professionals.
What is Express Entry British Columbia?
When discussing British Columbia PNP, we are looking at two coordinating categories: Express Entry British Columbia and Express Entry Immigration Selection System. Under the EEBC, we have four major categories:
- Skilled Worker Category
- Health Care Professional Category
- International Graduate Category
- International Post-Graduate Category
Candidates registered under the SIRS ranking system are provided with a registration score based on their work experience, educational qualifications, and if they have a job offer from a BC employer.
IRCC conducts draws based on labor shortages in these professions and invites highly skilled professionals to apply for a permanent residency to set an unmatchable standard.
