The Subclass 190 Visa is a Permanent Visa for skilled professionals. This point-tested visa is a swift and popular pathway for skilled individuals who are nominated by the Australian State or Australian territory to immigrate to Australia

If you have a professional trade skill that qualifies under the List of Occupations that are facing labor shortages in a particular state, you are eligible to apply. What are the eligibility requirements for Australia Subclass 190 Visa?

Your occupation must be stated under the particular state’s Skilled Occupation List.

A minimum of 65 points must be scored in the Australian Immigration points calculator: Your score depends on various underlying factors: Age, English Proficiency, Educational Qualifications, Work Experience in Australia or any international work experience, your qualifications from Australia, State sponsorship/nomination and the qualification level of your spouse/common law partner.

You must be between 18-45 years of age. You must be 45 or below 45 at the time the invitation to apply is issued.

You must have a thorough skill assessment acquired 3 years before the invitation was issued.

You must be proficient in English: You should score good points in any certified English Language Test (IELTS/PTE) in order to prove your English competency.

You  and your family members who are above the age of 16, applying for the visa, make sure to have all health and character certificates ready.

 

What are the steps involved in applying for the Australian Subclass 190 Visa?

You must submit an Expression of Interest in the online portal: The Australian Government wants to invite the best from the lot and lodging an EOI will give your profile weightage over others. The Australian Labor Market lists down all the occupations that are facing labor shortages, by submitting an EOI, the government will be able to select candidates for jobs that require immediate attention.

What is the processing time and processing fee?

The cost of application for the Subclass 190 Visa is AUD 4640. There are additional charges depending on the number of family members that are applying for the visa.

You must pay a second installment if:

If you have a family member above the age of 18 who does not meet the “functional English” requirement

If there are family members other than the primary applicant, applying for the visa. An additional AUD 4485 is charged.

The Ministry of Home Affairs will send you an invitation (ITA), once you have fulfilled all the requirements. You get a timeline of 60 days to lodge an application, once you have received your invitation from the Australian government. It takes about 6-8 months of processing time. Although the processing time varies depending on various other factors. 

The travel to and from Australia component expires in  5 years, you need a RRV (Resident Return Visa (subclass 155 or 157)) to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.
