IRCC Invites 5,000 Candidates in the Latest Express Entry Draw

On July 31, 2024, IRCC invited 5,000 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class category. The minimum CRS score required for the latest draw is 515.

In comparison to the previous Express Entry draw under the same category, the number of invitations have decreased. 

Express Entry

It is the most common and direct route to Permanent Residence in Canada. Candidates are assessed using a points-based system that takes into account a number of criterias including age, education, work experience and language ability.

If you meet the requirements, you will be added to the express entry pool. Candidates are then compared and candidates with the highest ranking will be invited to apply for Canada PR.

There are three programs under Express Entry - 

• Federal Skilled Workers Program 
• Federal Trades Workers Program 
• Canadian Experience Class

Types of Rounds in Express Entry Draw  

Express Entry holds different types of rounds throughout the year. 

General category: In this general round of invitations, high-ranking candidates eligible for any of the three programs managed by Express Entry, i.e., Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class, are invited to the pool. 

Program-specific rounds: In this round, candidates who are eligible for a specific program managed by Express Entry are invited. If a round is held specifically for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), then the candidates eligible for the PNP are invited. 

Category-based round: The Minister established a category to meet specific economic goals. Candidates who are eligible for this category are invited. A category-based round adds to the general and program-specific rounds by inviting high-ranking candidates who can meet specific economic goals.
