On February 14, 2024, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3500 candidates under the category of Health occupations.

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is determined differently. The time and date each candidate submitted their Express Entry profile determines the cut-off. The tie-breaking rule occurred on January 30, 2024, at 02:39:54 UTC.

CRS calculator is a point-based calculator that ranks candidates under the Express Entry Pool. The minimum CRS score required in this category of health occupations is 422. Last year, 3600 ITAs were invited under health occupations in October, and the minimum CRS score was 431.

Express Entry

Express Entry is the primary pathway for Canada's Permanent Residency

Under this three economic immigration programs are there:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program

Under Express Entry, candidates submit an online profile score based on education, work experience, language ability, and more.

Category-based selection

IRCC has introduced six categories under the Category-based selection. These categories target specific human capital attributes. The six categories are undermentioned-

  • Healthcare occupations
  • STEM professions (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
  • Proficiency in French language
  • Trades occupations - carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Occupations Related to Transportation
  • Agriculture and agri-food occupations

Why is healthcare an essential category in Canadian Express Entry?

Primary and emergency care in Canada has suffered due to a long-standing physician and nurse shortage. Obtaining the proper license in Canada might require more work for medical professionals with foreign training.

As a result, the IRCC has taken steps to facilitate the immigration of foreign-trained healthcare professionals to Canada. It has helped address the labor crisis in the healthcare sector by enabling doctors and other experts to find employment in their field. Immigration to Canada is rising, and medical professionals are eager to work and establish themselves here.
