Canada invites 3200 Candidates in the Latest Express Entry Draw

On July 8, 2024, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3,200 candidates under the French language proficiency category. The minimum CRS score required for the latest draw is 420. This is the fourth express entry of the month.

Comparatively to the previous draw, the number of invitations have decreased in number. In the previous draw released on 5 July 2024, a total of 3,750 candidates were invited with a CRS cut-off of 445. 

Express Entry  

Express Entry is the primary pathway for Canada's Permanent Residency. Candidates are selected on the basis of their education, work experience, language proficiency and age. A Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) ranks the applicants in the Express Entry pool.

There are three economic immigration programs under Express Entry system:

• Federal Skilled Worker Program 
• Canadian Experience Class
• Federal Skilled Trades Program

Different Types of Rounds of Invitation 

The different types of rounds of invitation are as follows:-

• General Category - This category invites top candidates who are eligible in one of the three programs to participate in the Express Entry pool. The three Express Entry programs are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. 
• Program-Specific Category -  In this category, candidates with specific Express Entry programs are invited to apply. For example- IRCC often has specific draws for Provincial Nominee Program. 
• Category-Based - The candidate has to meet certain economic benefits to be eligible for this type of invitation. 

Category-based Selection 

RCC has introduced six categories under the Category-based selection. These categories target specific human capital attributes.

The six categories are as follows:- 

• Healthcare occupations
• STEM professions (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
• Proficiency in French language
• Trades occupations - carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
• Occupations Related to Transportation
• Agriculture and agri-food occupations
