Canada’s First Healthcare Express Entry Draw Issued 3,000 Invitations

Great News for Healthcare workers who have been waiting for this draw for a long time.

IRCC recently issued invitations to apply for Canada PR under the category-based draw. 

The draw was held on November 20, 2024, allowing healthcare professionals an opportunity to immigrate to Canada and fulfill the market demand. This draw was the first in the healthcare category since July.  

Under the Healthcare Occupations (Version 1) category, this draw invites a total number of 3,000 potential candidates to apply for Canada PR. 

However, the CRS cut-off of the considered candidates was 463.

The Express Entry draw is conducted on a regular basis under different categories, allowing individuals an opportunity to showcase their skills and immigrate to Canada to apply for permanent residency.

IRCC selects immigration candidates from the economic programs managed by the Express Entry system, namely, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. 

Guidelines for the rounds of Invitations: 

The instructions for each invitation round are posted online at the time of the round, and the Express Entry System also uses this information to invite candidates from the Express Entry pool.

Rounds of invitations instructions include: 

• Date and Time in which the round is held.
• Eligibility of a candidate for a specific category. Applies only for the category-based rounds.
• The number of candidates that will get an invitation to apply.
• Specifies the type of round, i.e., general, program-specific, or category-based.
• Specifies the included immigration program in the round. Applies to only program-specific rounds. 

Different types of rounds of Invitations:

There are three different types of rounds of invitations.

General Category: In this category, the candidates with the highest ranking and eligible for one of the three programs managed by the Express Entry System (the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class) are invited to the Express Entry pool. 

Program-Specific: Candidates who are eligible for any Express Entry programs are invited. If the round is held only for the Provincial Nominee Program, candidates who qualify for the PNP are invited.

Category-based: For this round of invitations, the Minister establishes a round to meet the economic benefit, and the candidates eligible for the category-based round are invited.
