Big change in Canada Immigration: PTE Scores are now accepted to Test English Language Proficiency

There is yet another addition in the Canadian Permanent Residency procedure. PTE scores are now accepted by the Canadian government as an assessment of the person’s English proficiency. Until last year, only the IELTS score was accepted by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). PTE core seems promising to focus on the economic recovery of Canada and include a diverse range of professions such as nurses and engineers.

 PTE academic has already been recognised by universities of Canada touching a figure of approximately 97% of the total universities. The Pearson Test of English (PTE) has been implemented by the Canadian government keeping in mind the specific migration requirements and the candidates can appear for the exam 12 February, 2024. It is a computer- based examination that would  focus on language based skills such as reading, speaking, writing proficiency and listening skills. 

Prabhul Ravindran, the Director of English Language Learning, said 

“PTE Core is a new test from Pearson, designed to offer a vocational and real-life focus to support the Canadian Government’s migration needs. This is an important step for Pearson, boosting our aim to become the global leader in English language for committed learners,”

The time duration of the exam would be 2 hours. The candidates appearing for PTE core can book the particular slot before 24 hours and can expect the results within two-three days. 

The fairness of the exam, convenient registration system and the AI based scoring adds value to the exam. It has a biometric system and keeps the security of the aspirants intaced. PTE core is expected to expand globally and reach 25 test centres in Canada. Test-takers can submit their scores in the top- ranked universities of Canada and secure academic admissions or employment opportunities.
