In a recent update from Canada, Immigration Minister— Marc Miller announced that he is seriously considering removing the LMIA points rewarded to permanent resident applicants in the Express Entry system.

Till now, Canada PR applicants can gain an additional 50 points or more with LMIA and up to 200 points for a managerial role, which is viewed as a significant figure in terms of immigrating to Canada and obtaining PR status.

However, this new change has been brought up due to the fraud and misuse of the system, especially in regard to getting fake job offers to increase points.

Also, the concern has been raised by Minister Marc Miller about applicants using fake job offers and documents to increase their points in the Express Entry system, which defines their possibility of getting PR in Canada.

To get this issue resolved, he is considering removing those points for the betterment of applicants who have genuine LMIA job offers and documents.

The Other Side of the Coin:

While Canada is known as a hub for immigrants and already has thousands of immigrants yet, the country is welcoming more international newcomers to immigrate and settle there permanently and to identify the actual and rightful ones; the Minister has taken this initiative.

So, if you are an aspiring immigrant looking to immigrate to Canada, this can be your chance to get your PR visa approval. Among the other fake profiles, yours will be the authentic one to receive visa approval.

For this reason, people are thinking that due to these changes in Canada’s immigration policies and system, immigrating to Canada is now difficult. But the fact is, following these changes, the competition and number of visa applications will be decreased, eventually increasing your chances of getting a PR visa approved.

It also helps desperate international skilled workers and students to become aware of fraud and not get exploited and trapped by unethical employers and recruiters.

To Conclude:

In short, by removing LMIA points, the government aims to eliminate illegal job offers, documents, and activities. Now, the main goal is to restore the integrity, authenticity, and genuineness of Canada’s immigration system.

For Marc Miller, the goal is straightforward and clear: to keep the Canadian immigration system fair, sustainable, and aligned with the capacity of the country to welcome newcomers.
