What are the opportunities to immigrate to Canada as a Dentist?

Are you a professional dentist, and have you ever thought of immigrating to Canada in search of a better job opportunity?

Indeed, Canada is a land of vast opportunities for foreign skilled workers like Dentists. The country allows individuals to immigrate and build a better life for themselves.

There is a high demand for Dentists in all the provinces of Canada, and it provides many opportunities to fulfill the needs of medical professionals. If you want to serve people who lack these facilities abroad, you can apply to immigrate to these provinces in Canada.

According to the report, there are 13,500 new job openings for Dentists because of the expansion and replacement demand from 2022 to 2031. At the same time, 10,500 new job seekers emerged from school graduates and immigrants.

However, this has led to a shortage of 3,000 positions for Dentists due to the need for more qualified candidates for these positions. Therefore, it is the best opportunity for professional Dentists like you to secure a place in this position.

Despite the fact that the job market within this occupational group is historically balanced, the predicted job openings are likely to surpass the number of job seekers. This prediction results in a shortage of workers between the period of 2022 to 2031.

What are the opportunities for Dentists in Canada?

By late June, there were 80 job openings for the profession of Dentists under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system 2021, categorized with the code 31110.

The majority of Dentist jobs that are posted are from Ontario, one of the most populous provinces, with about 56.5%. You can immigrate to Ontario through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), one of the pathways to immigrate to Canada.

Dentists have a median annual income of $118,394. However, it can vary significantly from a minimum of $30,128 to a maximum of $261,517. Alberta possesses the highest potential income for Dentists. Professionals in this province can earn up to $344,374.

Pathway to immigrate to Canada as a Dentist:

Express Entry: It is one of the easiest and fastest immigration pathways. It is an online system used to manage immigration applications from skilled workers. Selected candidates who are eligible can enter the express entry pool.

The Canadian government holds Express Entry Draws routinely, inviting the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residency.

Earlier, the Express Entry system conducted its draws primarily based on the immigration program instead of targeting specific occupations.

However, the recent announcement mentions a change as it aims to prioritize certain professions, including Dentists, in its selection process from June last year.

For several years, most of Canada’s provinces have issued invitations based on specific occupations.

There are three programs managed under Express Entry: Federal Skilled Workers Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class

In this recent announcement, the Express Entry System aims to focus on 82 professions, including healthcare, technology, trades, transport, agriculture, and Dentists. This initiative encourages foreign nationals to immigrate to Canada.

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser states that adjusting the Express Entry system would guarantee the availability of skilled workers who are essential for the employer’s growth and success.

In addition, this will improve economic growth and support businesses that are facing labor shortages. They also highlighted the purpose of raising the number of French-speaking candidates to encourage their community.

Targeted Express Entry rounds of Invitations:

Recognizing the significance of Dentists in the healthcare sector, the government of Canada has specifically listed the occupation of Dentists in the Targeted Occupations list.

Dentists can immigrate to Canada through the Targeted Express Entry program. Canada observes a drastic change after introducing the category-based selection process in the Express Entry program.

The most awaited immigrants have eagerly looked forward to these new Targeted Express Entry Draws, and IRCC now offers a detailed eligibility requirement for these immigrants' selection.

To become eligible for the Targeted Express Entry Draw, you must have a minimum of six months of continuous work experience as a Dentist within the last three years.

It also requires qualification for any of the Federal economic programs managed by Express Entry.

What is your eligibility to apply for Targeted Express Entry?

If you want to immigrate to Canada as a Dentist, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Validate Eligibility: You must ensure that you are fulfilling the criteria for a Dentist, including a minimum of six months of continuous work experience within the last three years and qualified for any of the Federal programs.
  • Language Proficiency: It is important to undergo a language proficiency test such as CELPIP or IELTS for English and TEF or TCF for French to meet the eligibility requirement.
  • Express Entry profile: You must create an accurate profile on the Canadian government website. Your profile will be ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) calculator. The profile must include your education, work experience, language skills, and relevant information.
  • Medical and Security: There are specific immigration health standards that you must qualify to meet the eligibility requirement with the security checks.
  • Boost your CRS score: You can add up your points with the help of different factors like education, language proficiency, work experience, Canadian work experience, or provincial nominations. For better chances of accepting the application, you are advised to seek professional consultation with Stark Visas.

Permanent Resident in Canada for Dentists:

The country witnessed increased demand for dentists as approximately 30 million people visit dental offices annually. The dental profession offers an encouraging career opportunity as the increase in the elderly population clearly denotes the need for more than the existing 23,000 Dentists.

It is important to note that the cost of living may vary significantly based on the country’s specific location. There are several necessary factors for obtaining authorization to practice Dentistry in Canada:

  • Evaluation of your references by a recognized agency is essential.
  • You must apply to the Dental Regulatory Authority of the province or territory where you intend to practice.
  • You will either have to finish a Canadian university's qualification program or qualify for an exam.

If you have a lower CRS score, the Targeted Express Entry Program allows you to immigrate to Canada and get permanent residency with a lower CRS score.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows you to apply for any province and enhance your chances of getting selected.

At Stark Visas, we are dedicated to increasing your chances of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA). We offer an authorized and registered Canadian lawyer to help you with the immigration process.
