What is the Atlantic Immigration Program?
The Atlantic Immigration Program was originally launched in 2017. This program is one of the pathways to Permanent Residency and targets four provinces of Canada - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. This program targets skilled workers and international student graduates.
Eligibility for Atlantic Immigration Program-
The eligibility criteria for this program for workers and international graduates are as follows-
Work Experience
- The candidate should have worked at least 30 hours per week in a year in his past five employment years. The more work experience, better chances of getting selected.
- All the candidates that are self- employed are not eligible for this immigration program.
- The work experience the candidate has must be in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) level 0, A, B and C.
Educational Qualifications
- The candidate’s education qualifications are compared to the education of Canada in case you want to work in Canada.
- A high school diploma or equivalent secondary education degree is needed.
Language Requirements
- The candidate should be proficient in English language.
- A CLB 5 or higher is required in your English language test like IELTS.
Proof of Funds
- You would have to submit your bank statements showing that you are financially stable to live in the Canadian province.
Who can Apply for the Atlantic Immigration Program?
- Anyone having an intend settling in Atlantic Canada
- Candidate who has graduated from a university in Atlantic Canada
- The candidate must be a skilled worker
Requirements for International Graduates
- Candidates must have lived in one of the Canadian provinces for at least 16 months in the past two years.
- The applicant must have a minimum of two years diploma or degree or certificate from a recognized Atlantic institution.
Requirements for a Designated Employer
The employers who take part in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program must apply to become designated employers. A company that is designated as an employer will be able to hire foreign workers without needing to get a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Employees hired under the pilot program must get assistance from designated employers in relocating to their home province.
